Resumen

The present inventory is a first attempt to document the various micro-insurance schemes that have so far been identified  as contributing to the extension of social protection in Pakistan.  In recent years, there has been a growing realization of the need for both the extension of social protection to all excluded groups and a wider commitment to new micro-insurance schemes. As a direct result, several actors have already designed and set up some micro-insurance schemes tailor-made for specific groups of vulnerable people. Several insurance companies, both private and public, are also actively working with development organizations at the grassroots level  to extend insurance products to disadvantaged groups.
