SPF Joint Team
Against the global background of Social Protection Floor-Initiative (SPF-I), The United Nations Country Team in Thailand (UNCT) started as of January 2010 exchanging on the concept of SPF-I and brainstorming on an operational direction to take. Two meetings were held on January 19 and March 8, 2010. Following a UNCT meeting on March 31, 2010, it was agreed to create a UN SPF Joint Team.
The team’s main objective is to enhance Thailand’s capacity to implement a social protection floor through coordinated support from UN agencies and other stakeholders involved.
SPF Team members include the following participating agencies (in alphabetical order): IASU, ILO, UNDP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNIFEM, WHO. ILO is coordinating the Team.
The SPF Joint Team has been a useful and efficient mechanism, not only to share experience and information among UN agencies working on social protection but also to start working as a one UN team on a thematic subject where each agency has its own comparative advantage.
