How to make Social Protection Floor operational? The Single Window Service Pilot

This workspace focuses on the Single Window Service approach

A coordination mechanism at local level

In Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand, the ILO proposed the establishment of a coordination mechanism called the Single Window Service (SWS) or the  PEOPLE service (“Promotion and Enhancement of People Livelihood and Equity”).

The PEOPLE Service consists of a one-stop-shop, at subnational level, for the delivery of social protection programs and employment services, which goes hand in hand with an integrated database.

A potential tool to implement the social protection floor

As a coordinating mechanism between the main social protection programs and employment related services, the SWS is a potential tool to implement the social protection floor.

This workspace aims to share the experience of piloting the Single Window Services  in Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand

Pilots in Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand

In Cambodia and in Indonesia, Single Window Services pilots are currently being designed in relevant provinces. In Cambodia, the SWS is to be established in Siem Reap province, in two districts : Angkor Chum and Srei Snam. In Indonesia, the SWS is to be established in the NTT Province. In Thailand, the design of a pilot is planned for 2013.

A workspace to share working documents and experiences

This workspace is a public section dedicated to anyone that would like to learn more about the Single Window Service, willing to implement such an approach elsewhere etc. The workspace allows:

  • to describe the methodology used
  • to share working documents,
  • to discuss some issues,
  • to follow up on the experiences in Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand.
