Summary

This book claims that a new class, the precariat, characterised by common precarious work experiences, is emerging due to neoliberal and institutional policies.  Their lack of organisation would render them sensible to producing societal instability.  The book supports that re-engaging the precariat into civil society would benefit society, in which an unconditional state-provided basic income for everyone would be coupled by earned incomes, by addressing labour insecurity and civic disengagement.
